Mumbai, 10 Oct (Commoditiescontrol): The Government of India has announced an extension of the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Export Products (RoDTEP) scheme for Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) Units, as well as for units operating under Advance Authorization (AA), Export Oriented Units (EOUs), and Special Economic Zones (SEZs). As per a notification issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on September 30, 2024, the RoDTEP benefits will now apply to exports made until September 30, 2025.

This extension comes as a relief for Indian exporters aiming to remain competitive in global markets. The scheme covers a broad range of products, reimbursing unrefunded duties and taxes to offset their export costs. Eligible items are detailed in Appendices 4R and 4RE, available on the DGFT website.

The latest RoDTEP rates, applicable from October 1, 2024, are based on recommendations from the RoDTEP Committee. Exports from DTA Units, AA, EOU, and SEZ Units conducted from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024, will continue to benefit under the earlier guidelines.

Key Implications for Exporters This extension is designed to provide critical support to exporters facing rising cost pressures. The RoDTEP scheme plays a vital role in reducing the effective export cost burden by refunding previously unremitted duties and taxes. By maintaining this scheme, the government aims to bolster the competitiveness of Indian goods in the global market.

Exporters are advised to stay updated with the detailed guidelines available on the DGFT portal and ensure compliance to maximize their claims under the extended scheme.
