Mumbai, 06 Nov 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):- Indicative export prices for Ukrainian sunflower seeds rose by $15-$30 per metric ton over the past week, reaching $505-$535 per ton on a Carriage Paid To (CPT) basis as of Nov. 6, consultancy APK-Inform reported. This price climb stems from a smaller sunseed harvest and strong demand from both exporters and sunflower oil refineries.
Ukrainian sunseed was previously priced at $480-$490 per ton on Oct. 23, having increased from $445-$455 on Oct. 9. The country’s 2024 sunseed harvest is forecasted at 13.8 million tons, down from 15.1 million tons in 2023, with processing volumes anticipated to reach 13.4 million tons in the 2024/25 season, compared to 15.1 million tons last season.
As a global leader in sunflower oil production, Ukraine could see its sunoil exports fall to 5.2 million tons in 2024/25, a decline from 6.2 million tons in 2023/24, according to industry forecasts. However, October 2024 sunoil exports totaled 458,000 tons, up from 374,000 tons a year earlier, reported the Ukrainian Grain Traders Union (UGA), reflecting sustained export demand amid tighter supply.
