New Delhi, January 22 (Commodities Control): Cumin prices in Gujarat’s cumin markets showed a slight improvement today, rising by Rs 30 per 20 kg. Traders noted that the market had been relatively quiet in recent days, but the modest increase in demand today contributed to the uptick in prices. Despite the improvement, exporters have pointed out that Indian cumin remains relatively cheap, and due to limited demand, no significant price rise is expected. The cumin market is anticipated to remain stable, with no major upward or downward movement expected from current levels.
Today, around 5,000 bags (1 bag = 55 kg) of cumin arrived in Unja market. The price of rough cumin was reported between Rs 4000 and Rs 4150 per 20 kg, while the price of the best quality cumin ranged from Rs 4200 to Rs 4300 per 20 kg. Bombay Bold cumin fetched prices between Rs 4300 and Rs 4350 per 20 kg. Overall, around 15,000 bags of cumin arrived across Gujarat.
In Gondal Mandi, the price ranged between Rs 4250 and Rs 4460 per 20 kg, with 1,522 bags traded. In Rajkot Mandi, prices were reported at Rs 4040-4300 per 20 kg, with an arrival of around 1,400 bags.
Although prices have seen a slight uptick, limited demand and ample supply indicate that the cumin market is likely to remain stable in the short term, with no significant changes expected unless demand picks up.
