MUMBAI, 6 Sep (Commoditiescontrol): Corn sowing for the 2024/25 season has commenced earlier than usual in Argentina, driven by concerns over insufficient rainfall and the potential impact of leafhoppers on crop development, according to a weekly report by the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange (BAGE) released on Thursday, September 5. The challenges posed by these factors have led to fears of a reduction in planted area.
Meanwhile, the harvest of the previous crop has concluded, with total output reaching 46.5 million tonnes, marking a 25.6% increase compared to the previous year. As the new sowing season begins, farmers are closely monitoring weather patterns and pest activity, hoping to safeguard yields in the upcoming cycle.
