Government Extends Deadline for Public Comments on Legal Metrology Rules Amendment

Mumbai,29 July 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has announced an extension for public comments on the proposed amendment to Rule 3 of the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011. This extension comes in response to requests from various federations, associations, and stakeholders, reflecting the broad interest in the regulatory changes.

The Legal Metrology Division has extended the deadline from the original 29 July 2024 to 30 August 2024, providing stakeholders additional time to review and submit their feedback. The proposed amendments are available on the Department's official website at www.consumeraffairs.nic.in.

Stakeholders are urged to take advantage of this extended period to provide comprehensive feedback and suggestions. Submissions can be made via email to dirwm-ca@nic.in, ashutosh.agarwal13@nic.in, or mk.naik72@gov.in.

This extension underscores the Ministry's commitment to inclusive and participatory policy-making, ensuring that the final amendments are well-informed by industry and consumer perspectives.
