Mumbai, 14 June 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Masur pricesremianed steady to firm on Friday despite weak trend in other pulses due to steady demand and depleting stocks of desi and imported masur.
Desi variety Masur prices mandi traded higher. Ashoknagar, Lalitpur, Jabalpur, and Ganjbasoda markets traded unchanged. In Beena and, Sagar market prices gained between Rs 50 each while at Kareli, Desi Masur quoted Rs 122 strong. The bilty or all expenses deal quoted largely table where largely stable with Delhi and Bareilly mmarket adding Rs 25 and Rs 50, respectively.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, Canadian farm gate prices for Masur stood firm at $562 per metric ton, mirroring the figures from the preceding session. This stabilization marked a notable recovery from a recent three-month low, a rebound largely credited to a dip in overall supply. Insiders in the Canadian market revealed that constrained supply dynamics are anticipated to act as a stabilizing force, maintaining prices at their current levels.
Looking ahead, market analysts anticipate a firm trend in Masoor prices driven by steady demand and declining stock levels. The onset of the wedding season and a shift in consumer preference from Tur to Masoor, due to its significant price discount, are expected to support this firmness. However, potential price increases may be constrained. Stockists are likely to sell at each price rise, as the availability of new crops from Canada and Russia in September will exert additional pressure on them to liquidate their existing inventories.
