Mumbai, 18 June 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Masur prices have remained relatively stable across major consuming and producing markets. Local traders report that seller inactivity and low demand, driven by an ongoing heat wave, have contributed to the steady prices.
In Canada, farm gate prices for Masur stood at $562 per metric ton (MT), unchanged from the previous session. These prices have rebounded from a three-month low due to reduced supply, and local sources expect stability to continue given the limited availability.
The market anticipates price increases driven by rising demand, as Masoor remains one of the most affordable pulses. Additionally, steady demand and limited supply from overseas, where stocks are depleting, should support Masoor prices in the near term.Furhter delay in monsoon in Maharashtra and North India should delay sowing in these parts of India which should be supportive for pulses including masur.
