Tur prices Extend Decline; Sharp Increase in Acreage Weighs

Mumbai, 02 July 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Its a mixed bag of trade for Tur on Tuesday, with prices in overseas markets gaining momentume. Locally, Tur weakened as strong harvest prospect due to increased area under cultivation lifted availability concerns off the table.

Tur prices in Burmese markets have stabilized after a sharp drop, with minimal trading activity reported. In contrast, lemon prices in imported markets have followed a weak trend, mirroring the decline in domestic market prices. Prices in most African countries have remained stable, except for Mozambique, where prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal.

Tur International Prices In Key Indian Markets:


In India, tur prices have resumed their downward trend over the past 2-3 sessions, weighed down by strong kharif acreage. Despite lower arrivals, prices continue to fall due to inactive buyers. Abundant rainfall in major tur-growing regions, particularly in Maharashtra, has put pressure on prices. However, excessive rains in the coming days may impact prices.

Dal prices have reported a stable to low trend, with prices falling in Maharashtra markets. Despite the recent price drop, dal demand remains average, weighing on prices. Prices have corrected over the past two sessions, but scarcity among farmers, stockists, and millers may keep prices stable. Strong seed demand is also expected to support prices.
