Mumbai, June 11 (CommoditiesControl): Chilly prices in major markets showed mixed trends, with stability to higher prices in Guntur and Warangal driven by strong demand, while Khammam saw a decline due to lower demand. According to local sources, buyers remained cautious due to recent rainfall activity across major chilli-growing regions, leading to uncertainty about the acreage.
Total arrivals amounted to 75,000 bags, predominantly from cold storage facilities. Guntur reported 55,000 bags, a decrease of 5,000 from the previous session. In contrast, Khammam and Warangal saw arrivals of 8,000 and 12,000 bags, respectively, with an increase of 1,000 bags in Khammam and 4,000 bags in Warangal.
Prices are expected to remain supported in the short term as markets reopen following the summer break. However, with cold storages full, indicating ample supply, and low expected export demand, aggressive price increases are likely to be limited.
