Ahmedabad, June 12 (CommoditiesControl): Cardamom prices have declined for the second consecutive session in major markets, with cautious buyer activity following a recent sharp increase. The average price per kilogram fell to Rs 2,384, down from the previous session's range of Rs 2,443 to Rs 2,503. However, the highest price per kilogram rose slightly to Rs 3,096 from Rs 3,042 in the previous session.
Today's market saw lower arrivals, with only one operational center contributing to a drop in arrivals from 93,485 kg in the previous session to 44,422 kg. Growers accounted for around 85% of the total arrivals, as stockists and dealers are holding onto their stock in anticipation of future price increases. The offtake recorded was 41,894 kg, but the offtake rate fell to 94.3% from 95.5% in the previous session, indicating a decrease in demand.
Despite the general price drop, specific grade rates showed an upward trend. Prices for 7 mm grades ranged between Rs 2,200 and Rs 2,260 per kg, grades 7-8 mm were priced between Rs 2,380 and Rs 2,520 per kg, and grades 8 mm and above fetched between Rs 2,680 and Rs 2,840 per kg.
