Mumbai, June 27 (Commodities Control): Cardamom prices in major markets continued to weaken as buyers remained cautious. Favorable weather conditions, with rainfall 21% above the long period average (LPA), are expected to support better crop growth.
Price Trends
- Average price per kg: Rs 2,189-2,246, down from Rs 2,250-2,326.
- Highest price per kg: Rs 2,758, down from Rs 3,008.
Market Arrivals and Offtake
- Arrivals: 49,350 kg, down from 65,452 kg.
- Offtake: 46,560 kg, down from 64,265 kg.
- Offtake rate: 94.2%, down from 98.3%.
Grade-Specific Rates
- 7 mm grades: Rs 2,180 to Rs 2,260 per kg.
- 7-8 mm grades: Rs 2,360 to Rs 2,440 per kg.
- 8 mm and above grades: Rs 2,600 to Rs 2,860 per kg.
Large cardamom prices in the North East's major markets increased slightly due to strong demand:
- Badadana: Rs 1,375 to 1,650 per kg.
- Chotadana: Rs 1,250 to 1,450 per kg.
With favorable rainfall supporting crop growth, small cardamom prices are expected to remain weak in the short term. However, stable grade-specific rates indicate resilience in higher-quality segments. Large cardamom prices are expected to stay strong due to ongoing demand.
