Mumbai, July 4 (CommoditiesControl): After a decline lasting 7-8 sessions, small cardamom prices in major markets have rebounded due to strong buying at lower levels. Prices fell by around Rs 350-400 per kg over the past week, stimulating demand. Additionally, the upcoming wedding season in North India, set to begin next week, is expected to provide further support to prices.
The average price per kg was reported as Rs 2,130-2,174, up from the previous session's average of Rs 2,039-2,071. The highest price per kilogram reached Rs 2,769, an increase from Rs 2,700 the previous session. Arrivals were reported at 45,799 kg, similar to the previous sessions' 46,047 kg. The offtake increased to 44,921 kg from 44,203 kg the previous session. The offtake rate improved to 98.1% from 96% in the previous session, driven by strong demand. Grade-specific rates remained stable. Prices for 7 mm grades ranged from Rs 2,040 to Rs 2,100 per kg, Rs 2,240 to Rs 2,300 for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 2,460 to Rs 2,620 for grades 8 mm and above.
In contrast, large cardamom prices in the North East's major markets were weaker than small cardamom prices. Prices for Badadana and Chotadana dropped by Rs 100 to Rs 125 per quintal. Badadana prices ranged from Rs 1,300 to 1,450 per kg, while Chotadana prices ranged from Rs 1,200 to 1,300 per kilogram.
