New Delhi, July 5 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices in major markets have risen for the second consecutive day after experiencing a decline over 7-8 sessions. This upward trend is driven by strong buying at lower price levels. The recent drop of approximately Rs 350-400 per kg in prices has spurred increased demand. Additionally, the approaching wedding season in North India is expected to further support the rise in prices.
The average price per kilogram has increased to Rs 2,215-2,333, up from the previous session's average of Rs 2,130-2,174. Despite this rise, the highest price per kilogram decreased slightly to Rs 2,709 from Rs 2,769 in the previous session.
Arrivals of small cardamom were reported at 38,565 kg, which is lower compared to the 45,799 kg in previous sessions. The offtake has improved to 44,921 kg from 44,203 kg in the previous session. This has resulted in an increase in the offtake rate to 98.1%, up from 96% in the previous session, reflecting strong market demand.
Prices for different grades of small cardamom have also risen. For 7 mm grades, prices range between Rs 2,100 and Rs 2,180 per kg. Grades between 7-8 mm are priced at Rs 2,320 to Rs 2,440 per kg, while grades of 8 mm and above are trading between Rs 2,560 and Rs 2,720 per kg. The rise in bulk grade prices has contributed to the higher rates observed for grade-specific cardamom.
