Mumbai, June 18 (Commoditiescontrol): Small cardamom prices in major markets reported a decline today due to subdued demand post-Eid, despite a significant drop in arrivals. The average price per kilogram ranged from Rs 2,335 to Rs 2,369, down from the previous session's average of Rs 2,379 to Rs 2,489. The highest price per kilogram also decreased to Rs 2,957 from Rs 2,987 previously.
Arrivals witnessed a sharp decrease, totaling approximately 50,000 kg compared to 69,430 kg in the previous session. Offtake, which stood at 51,755 kg, was down from 64,800 kg previously. However, the offtake rate increased slightly to 96.4% from 93.3% in the previous session, indicating stagnant demand.
Grade-specific rates remained stable:
- 7 mm grades: Rs 2,240 to Rs 2,320 per kg
- Grades 7-8 mm: Rs 2,440 to Rs 2,560 per kg
- Grades 8 mm and above: Rs 2,720 to Rs 2,920 per kg
Despite lower arrivals, dull post-Eid demand exerted downward pressure on prices. Market conditions suggest that buyers are cautious, reflecting the overall subdued sentiment in small cardamom markets.
