Mumbai, 26 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Chana (chickpea) prices in India surged for a second consecutive session due to reduced supply and stockist withholding. In key markets, prices increased by Rs 100-200 per quintal. Robust buying activity from local and village-level traders, who anticipate further price increases, has fueled the spike.
In Delhi, prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal, with the Rajasthan line reaching Rs 6,500 and the Madhya Pradesh line hitting Rs 6,450.
Analysts predict upward price pressure to continue due to lower production and limited government stocks. However, ample yellow pea supplies and potential government intervention could curb significant price escalation.
