Mumbai, May 07 (Commoditiescontrol): Persistent rains across the U.S. western Corn Belt have abruptly halted planting progress, raising concerns about potential corn supply disruptions. Farmers, who had a solid start to the season, are now facing significant delays and growing anxiety.

A new Crop Watch report reveals seven of eleven major corn producers have seen zero fieldwork since April 25th. While some planting resumed in eastern Iowa, progress across Illinois, Indiana, and Nebraska remains severely hampered.

This year's delays are significant. Only half of Crop Watch's monitored fields are planted (six corn and five soybean fields) as of May 6th, compared to 15 fields on the same date in 2021 and 2023. Two weeks ago, the planting pace was slightly ahead of normal, matching the best pace recorded by Crop Watch.
