Mumbai, 10 Sep (Commoditiescontrol): In a groundbreaking move to combat climate change, the United States and Brazil have announced the formation of a global alliance aimed at accelerating worldwide efforts to achieve net zero emissions. This pioneering alliance seeks to catalyze the trade of biofuels derived from diverse sources, notably plant and animal waste.

With an ambitious plan to attain carbon neutrality by 2070, India is positioning itself as a key player in this initiative. The country is fervently expanding the use of biofuel within its transport sector. In a clear demonstration of its commitment, India has expedited its timeline to achieve a nationwide ethanol blending rate of 20% in gasoline by 2025, five years ahead of its original target.

Furthermore, to consolidate its role in this burgeoning biofuel market, India has laid out plans to construct 12 state-of-the-art bio-refineries. These facilities will focus on producing fuel from a variety of sustainable sources, including crop stubble, plant waste, and municipal solid waste.

This collective endeavor from the U.S., Brazil, and India marks a significant stride in global cooperation and showcases the shared ambition of these nations to transition to a more sustainable energy landscape. The promise of harnessing waste to generate biofuel presents an opportunity not just to reduce carbon emissions, but also to innovate in energy production and waste management.
