Mumbai, 22 Apr 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Moong prices showed mixed trends in Rajasthan's major markets, with declines in Jaipur, Kisangarh, and Kekri, but stability in Merta. This follows a weak trading session.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh is seeing increased harvesting of early-sown summer moong. Harvesting of the regular summer crop is anticipated to begin in early May.
The NFSM's updated summer acreage figures show a record 10.4 lakh ha planted with moong, exceeding last season's 9.42 lakh ha. Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh report significant increases in acreage. Summer production is projected to maintain record highs.
Additionally, pre-monsoon rains in Karnataka have boosted soil moisture, potentially leading to an earlier start for Kharif sowing in mid-May.
The combination of upcoming summer crop arrivals, regular government agency sales, and the potential for an early Kharif crop in Karnataka suggests ample moong supply in the near future. This is likely to maintain downward pressure on prices.
